I know you have been waiting for this, but I wanted to add some of the answers you had provided to this list, so I was waiting for content! So, without further ado, here are twenty things that some of you and I have never done. As always, crowd participation is welcomed and I have pasted the list at the bottom so you can copy and paste and answer them yourself!
You can see other posts in the Twenty Questions series here. Also, if you want to be featured in a future list, don't forget to fill out --> THE QUESTIONNAIRE!

3. Melissa said: Skydiving [guilty!]

10. Suzanne said: One thing I've never done but want to do: Travel outside of North America/Europe/Scandinavia. One thing I've never done but never want to do: High-risk adrenaline sports like BASE jumping, sky diving, or bungee jumping. NO THANK YOU. [I have never gone base jumping and would like to try it!]

16. Played an internet game (like Minecraft) (I was pretty good at Mario Bros back in the day though!)

19. Lived in a high rise building (I have stayed for a month or so when traveling but never lived in one for good)

Oooh this is a fun list! I've never gotten a tattoo or any sort of piercing. One thing I HAVE done is bareback riding. I've done it several times, with and without a bridle. The last time I did it was the first time I ever fell off a horse. Do not recommend. (The falling. Bareback is super fun and makes you feel very connected to your horse.)
ReplyDeleteInteresting! No tattoos or piercings! And yes to the bareback question! Wow; I don't know very many people who have done that! I have never fallen off of a horse thank goodness, but I have had some pretty rough rides.

ReplyDelete2. Ziplined / gone on a cruise
*To Alaska many years ago. I loved it, but there was SO MUCH SALMON shoved at us, and we both hate salmon.
4. Had your ears pierced
*I waited until I was 18 because my father forbade it. When he found out, he said it was "a tragedy."
7. Smoked a cigarette
*I smoked off and on my senior year of high school (also forbidden by my parents, so on the sly). I smoked my first year of college (even in class, allowed at that time), but quit cold turkey when I met Rick. He didn't ask me to, and he never saw me smoke, but I didn't want him to know or see me.
8. Traveled solo
*All the time. I used to just go drive or hop on a plane to see friends and sites all over the country. Rick would stay home with the kids or cats. Little Nance getaways. Nothing big, just domestic.
12. Bought a new car
*We haven't bought a used car in a long time.
13. Had a car payment
*We haven't had one of these in a while. When Rick had his bad accident, part of the settlement paid off his truck.
16. Played an internet game
*Do phone apps count? If so, then yes. I've been playing WWF with my BFF in Maryland constantly for decades now. If we're talking gaming systems stuff, then no.
18. Waxed a body part
*I'm Eastern European by descent. What do you think?
My parents would not let me pierce my ears until I was 16! When I finally got old enough, I did it, but I was not really as into it as I thought I would be. I actually don't really wear earrings now very much! I actually booked an Alaska cruise for next year so will report back (however, I like salmon!)
DeleteMy parents had the same rule! Except when I finally turned 16, I was no longer interested in piercing my ears at all!
Delete4. Had your ears pierced - yes. Wasn't allowed to as a kid, but got it done my second year of university. I LOVE having pierced ears.
ReplyDelete5. Learned to swim - YES! I swam across a 1.5 mi lake when I was 13.
6. Traveled in a water plane - Yes
8. Traveled solo - YES (went to Paris alone, but did meet up with my husband)
9. Run a marathon - Nope (5K is the one and only organized race I've done)
18. Waxed a body part - unfortunately, yes. OUCH.
I also did not pierce my ears until later. My parents wanted me to stay young forever! I think I need to hear about your water plane experience! Where did you do that?
DeleteAlways so amazing to read what people experience! And I am surprised by almost all of them.
ReplyDeleteThis what I have done:
4. Had your ears pierced
5. Learned to swim
7. Smoked a cigarette
8. Traveled solo - hitchhiked mostly and Interrail as a student
10. Traveled to a different continent than North America or Europe - lived and worked in Africa and Asia
11. Ridden a horse bareback - and hated it
17. Eaten at a Michelin starred restaurant outside of the US - and was not impressed
18. Waxed a body part - once and never again
Wow, good for you, traveling solo AND hitchhiking! I think as a woman solo that is sometimes hit and miss (I have also done it and sometimes it has gone better than others). What body part did you wax? I am not surprised that you did not like it; that does not sound fun to me at all.
Delete4. Had your ears pierced Yes!
ReplyDelete5. Learned to swim Yes!
7. Smoked a cigarette. Sort of. I tried once when I was probably 19 but I don’t think I did it correctly, ha. For the best!
8. Traveled solo Yes! I used to travel a little for work and would add a few days for myself at the beginning or end of the trip, or skip a few conference events here and there (shhh) to do my own thing. So I have had some solo adventures in San Diego, Salt Lake City, Tampa, Chicago, Boston, and Amsterdam. Fun and formative!
12. Bought a new car. Yes! Just one, about 10 yrs ago, still have it (lucky to have had two previous/used cars passed down/gifted from parents…)
13. Had a car payment Yes; fortunately this is indeed “had” at the moment.
14. Been to Ohio. Yes! Several times.
17. Eaten at a Michelin starred restaurant outside of the US. Yes, on work trip in Germany.
18. Waxed a body part. Yes, my eyebrows years ago, at a salon. I then switched to threading. And now I just pluck them myself (or not, often) bc it’s just too much trouble for me to go to a place.
19. Lived in a high rise building. Yes, only for six months, a short-term lease with a random roommate I found on CL who owned the condo/was renting out the guest suite. The place was super nice and had a beautiful view!
I was surprised you’ve only had one car! But if you’ve lived in areas with decent public transportation/bike a lot/travel a lot, it makes more sense!
I am similar to you actually in that I have had more than one car, but only bought one, as I had a couple that were passed down to me or have shared with roommates or friends sometimes. However, I have used the bus, train and bike a lot, and so did go without a car for a very long time!

ReplyDeleteMy list is that I learned to swim, I've attempted to smoke a cigarette or two and it did not take, traveled solo, bought a new car, and I've been to Ohio! Everything else is a no, and mostly a "no and I'm good with that". The only definite "I wanna" is to go to Vegas, and I wouldn't mind dinning at a Michelin star restaurant in any country if the opportunity came along.
Vegas baby! I think you should book it. I have been a few times and it is not really my style, although I did have fun at a few shows, like Penn and Teller for example! I agree with you in that I would go to a Michelin restaurant if given the chance but don't always seek it out myself.
DeleteI’ve been to Ohio many times - is it cheating if I live in the Midwest? I’ve learned to swim. I’ve bought a new car- but prob never will again. And I’ve had multiple bikini waxes but the first time was hilarious and I did blog about it once.
ReplyDeleteI have also never had my ears pierced. Or anything else. Makes me cringe to think of it.
No! It's not cheating if you live in the Midwest; it still counts! I am going to need to find the bikini post, as that is something that I don't think I ever need to try!

Did you go to Gaggan!? If so, I need to hear more about this! My friend went there and really enjoyed it and I was fascinated to hear about the menu (with emojis, I think!?) I am not surprised that you haven't pierced ears or had a body part waxed! It would be funny if you did! I also want to try kite surfing; I think I will maybe try it in Vietnam!
