Who Am I?

So, who am I?
This is me:

Hiking in the Trinity Wilderness

I love to travel. My job used to entail traveling around the US, doing disaster recovery work. I loved it. I met so many interesting people and got to see places, such as New Orleans, in a way that not many other people get to see them. However, as my work was dependent on there being disasters in the U.S., it was a bit of a hit or miss. However, this did allow me to have a lot of down time where I could travel.

I have been all around the world. I love to meet new people, to see how other cultures live and get by, to see what they eat and where they live. To eat what they eat and live how they live! I love to experience life, be it in the US or abroad. My dream is to be a travel writer or a photographer for Lonely Planet (or any travel magazine...any takers? I will work for food!)

I love FOOD. I take photos of meals and annoy people with my camera. I love PHOTOGRAPHY; I take pictures of pretty much everything! I love traveling! I work, I eat, I cook, I hike, and I read lots of books, I attempt to make crafts, I sometimes run and gripe about it, I blog sometimes, but not as much as I used to. I am a wannabe bikepacker.

I started blogging in 2006. I was traveling by myself and not only did my family and friends want to know where I was, but I had a couple of things in mind personally. One, I was sometimes lonely and bored. Two, I wanted a record for myself of where I was and what I was doing. I try (in vain) to keep a real journal, but many times I just don't get around to writing in it. This was a way for me to get my story on "paper" so I could remember it later. Especially since the older I get, the less I remember!

I didn't care who read it. Really it was a way to save me from having to write each of my friends a separate email telling them how I was and where I was. Nobody read it. My mom read it. Sometimes. Then I started realizing what a fun community the blogging community is and I was hooked. I have met a lot of blog friends turned real life friends over the years!

The mountains where I grew up.

Currently I am living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area but in 2024 I have plans to get back on the road, and to once again go where the wind takes me. Happy trails!
