I found it to be very thought-provoking, in a disturbing/dystopian way.

For some reason I was greatly disturbed by the bit about government taking control of a person's individual funds by first converting everyone to debit cards and then closing out bank accounts. I mean - the whole Handmaids society was disturbing, but the question of "what would you do without electronic access to your money" part really struck home because it is the most likely to occur - if only temporarily - in my lifetime (via natural disaster, etc...)B. I don't run in the rain if I can help it.

I was supposed to run 5 miles yesterday, but when I got up my husband was chipping away at ice with the shovel. So I waited until today. The sidewalks and trail were mostly clear, but a thin layer of ice still covers the grass. The bridges on the trail were still covered with ice and snow, so I just slowed down over those.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25226414.post-5125668420759353852012-01-22T10:05:01.726-08:002012-01-22T10:05:01.726-08:00It snowed crazy amounts here, so I stayed inside. ...It snowed crazy amounts here, so I stayed inside. I did not care for it, but it's been 10 years since I read it, so I can't remember exactly why I disliked it!

I did not run this week much... I tried to run in Chicago, but the lakeshore path was not cleared, so I didn't get very far! And now I am not allowed to run until my doctor clear me for exercise. Not that I would be able to run even if I wanted to, I feel pretty miserable.Lisa from Lisa's Yarnshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05335500882510597919noreply@blogger.com
