Liebster

A while back Elle gave me the Liebster award. Liebster is a German word, which means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome. What an honor!

The rules are that each person must post 11 things about themselves, then answer the questions the tagger sent for them, plus create 11 questions for the people they’ve tagged to answer. You are supposed to tag people afterward.

First, here are my 11 things

1. I don't think there is a fruit I don't like. If you were to ask my what my least favorite is, I would probably say pomegranate, but not because I don't like the flavor; I just don't like all the little seeds. They are weird.

2. Speaking of fruit, currently in my house we have no less the 12 different kinds. Strawberry, blueberry, plum, pluot, watermelon, apple, orange, peach, nectarine, fig, cherry, lemon and grape. I love summer.

3. Regarding what I just said, I will be happy that summer is over because then my friends and I will have more time to hang out. Summer is always so busy with weddings and birthdays and family obligations. I usually spend more time with friends in Spring and Fall. Hurray for Fall.

4. I have never been kite surfing, but would like to try it.

5. I have hiked to the top of Mt. Whitney and Mt. Shasta. Shasta is lower, but was more difficult.

6. I have never been to Montana. Or Idaho. Both are on my list! I drove through Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, but would like to go back and see more of them too!

7. In order to travel everywhere on my list, I need someone to donate a million dollars to my cause. Any takers?

8. I like cats more than I like dogs. However, the hair from either really turns me off. I hate hair.

9. I am a neat freak. I have to make my bed every day, no matter what. I also don't like leaving any dishes in the sink. Coming home to a clean house is so welcoming to me. (see: above comments about hair)

10. I dislike it when people are late and/or flakey. I find it disrespectful.

11. I would rather text, write a letter or email than talk on the phone.

Here are the questions Elle asked us

1.  What is your favorite season?  Why? My favorite season is probably Fall. Although it's a margin of .000002 from the other three. I love them all. Why? Fall is crisp and it has that certain smell to the air. Winter is Christmas and family and silent snowy days. Spring is green and new and crisp and bright. Summer is long warm days and friends and outdoors and water and sun!

2.  What is the most exotic place you have visited? I am not sure what "exotic" means, but I think Southeast Asia is pretty cool. I love all the old architecture in Thailand and Indonesia and Malaysia. It's so different from ours. There are other places that are nice but I wouldn't call them "exotic".

3.  Do you have pets?  What kind? Oops, I guess I kind of answered this one above. No. The hair, remember?

4.  What is your favorite way to unwind? If I am stressed, I usually go for a run or bake. If I just feel like relaxing, I read or water the garden or stare at the tomatoes to see how much bigger they have gotten since yesterday.

5.  Do you have any food issues?  Special dietary needs? No, thank goodness.

6.  Favorite snack? I usually snack on fruit (see number 2 in the first list), but if I am feeling like something naughty, it's probably going to be cheez-its. Or those nachos from the ball park with the grossly delicious fake cheese.

7.  Favorite flowers? Anything colorful!

8.  Have you ever met any other bloggers? Yes. I have met several and they have all been great!

9.  Do your real life friends and family members read your blog?  Do they know about it? Yes. They don't comment though. They are all lurkers.

10.  How do you celebrate your birthday? I don't really do a huge thing. It's usually right around Mother's Day, so we do a duel get together for that. This year my brother took me out to one of my favorite San Francisco restaurants!

11.   What motivates you to exercise and eat well?  Vanity?  Health?  Performance? ALL of the above.

Well, I am not going to tag anyone, but why don't you answer one (or all) of these questions in the comments (unless you want to post it on your blog; that works too!)

1. What special talent do you have?
2. What was your most embarrassing moment?
3. If you could eat one thing, anything, right now without having to make it or pay for it or suffer calorie consequences or indigestion, what would it be?
4. Which is your favorite Bob: the builder, the happy painter, or Barker?
5. What is your favorite and why: lake, river, ocean, stream?
6. How do you feel about earrings on men?
7. If you could alter one body part, what would it be?
8. If you met the Dalai Lama, what would you say to him?
9. Would you rather be able to breathe under water or to fly?
10. How do you take your coffee?
11. Name a hero in your life and tell me why they are your hero.

Have a great week!

  1. I just posted mine from Elle too!

    As to your questions...
    1. My special talent - erm... I must have one... Maybe a giggly enthusiasm?!
    2. Most recent embarrassing moment was tripping on a kerb and catapulting myself onto the floor in front of about a million tourists.
    3. American style pancakes covered in syrup.
    4. I only know of Bob the Builder!
    5. The ocean - I can't say why but I think it's in my blood as my grandmother loved the sea too.
    6. Not too fussed by them.
    7. Slightly smaller feet would be nice.
    8. I wouldn't be able to say anything!
    9. Both! But probably flying slightly more.
    10. I don't like coffee - One day I will start to like it. Maybe.
    11. A special person who was always calm and had a positive (but not annoyingly chirpy), God-led approach to life, no matter what was thrown at them.

  2. I hear you on the hair. Oh we are so similar. :) I'll answer a couple:

    2. One night when I was waitressing in college, I bent over and my pants split in the butt area. A couple other people saw this happen. It was so busy, my mom wouldn't let me go home so I had to staple them shut and finish my shift. I got so much crap from the cooks and bartenders about it. It was awful (but funny).

    5. I think I have to say Lake. I grew up around them and find them extremely peaceful! I love the ocean too, but am not super comfortable swimming in it as I don't like the feeling of getting pushed around by the waves!

    6. I hate hate hate earrings on men. Hate.

    7. I would like to have a nice, toned stomach. No matter how little I weigh, I still have a little tummy.

    10. I like dark roast coffee with International Delights Fat Free French Vanilla Creamer.

    11. My hero is probably my aunt Betty. She has battled cancer on and off for 15 years but despite that, she is one of the most positive, happiest people I know. She will send out emails with updates on her treatments but she always starts them talking about how beautiful her flowers are or the great morning she had sipping coffee on her gazebo. She really never complains or seems to feel sorry for herself. I think that is admirable.

  3. I went through a period where I was a neat freak for about a year when I lived without pets. Then, it kind of went out the window but I don't think I'm a complete disgusting slob either! I'm with you on the fruit, I like pretty much every type of fruit out there and always have quite the supply, winter is tough when there isn't a whole lot in season!

  4. You should come to Montana :) I will answer a few questions
    6. Earrings on men are girly. I like MANLY men :) Not the Justin Beiber effeminate kind.
    7. I would get rid of my excess belly skin from being preggers.
    10. Coffee with a little bit of milk.
    11. My Dad is my biggest hero. He works so hard, is a champion skeet shooter and was an excellent father despite his dad abandoning the family when he was 6.

  6. An embarrassing moment happened at the airport in Vegas a couple weeks ago when instead of pulling out my chapstick, I pulled out a tampon! Oops:) I don't know if anyone saw:) Made me laugh. I would rather fly. Not a fan of man earrings. Don't drink coffee. The one thing I would like to change, can't be changed with exercise. After nursing 2 hungry boys, I think you know what I'm talking about:)

  7. 2. Embarrassing moment--I've had many but this one always springs to mind: In fourth grade, when my mom discussed my "boyfriend" (a boy at the pool) with the checkout lady at the grocery store in front of me. My face still gets hot thinking about it.

    3. Eat one thing: a giant triple scoop ice cream sundae with LOTS of toppings.

    4. Favorite Bob: my dad :^)

    5. What is your favorite and why: mountain streams; I just think flowing water is peaceful, lulling, sparkling, clean; I grew up in the Midwest, land of muddy mosquito-ridden lakes and sluggish creeks--I love the way the water moves in Colorado

    9. Would you rather be able to breathe under water or to fly? --FLY

  8. I dig earrings on men. My favorite Bob was my father. I take my coffee strongly brewed with a bit of milk or cream.

  9. My favorite Bob is Bob the trainer from Biggest Loser. The earrings can go either way depending on the guy (same with tattoos). I'd love to eat cream brulee right now and if I ever learn how to make that we will be in big trouble!

  10. I'll take a million dollars into my travel fund too, please.

I make my bed every day too. It just gives me anxiety to walk into bedrooms with the beds messy. Dishes in the sink overnight are 90% of the time a total problem.

    No earrings on men please.

  11. Montana is AWESOME! Seriously, you MUST get there! We went a few years ago (drove from Chicago - not recommended) and stayed in Kalispell. Because we went with our dog, we weren't able to do much in Glacier National Park (other than drive through it), but we did a lot of hiking in Flathead National Forest. I have a wonderful B&B to recommend if you ever make it that way. Also, Bozeman > Missoula (IMHO) as far as cool college towns go.
